Editorial Standards
Every fact, number or claim on SteadyHomeHouston links to its source and shows the date we checked it. We label what kind of source each one is, so you can judge it yourself.

Every claim is sourced and dated
Every fact, number or claim in our guides has an inline link to where it came from, plus the date we checked it (for example, "checked 2026-10-13"). If we can't source something, we leave it out.
We tell you what kind of source it is
Not all sources are equal, so we label them:
- Government and official sources: city permit offices, the Texas Department of Insurance, the Texas Legislature, FEMA and the FTC.
- Engineering associations: for example, the ASCE Texas Section and the Foundation Performance Association.
- News reports: for example, KPRC Click2Houston.
- Contractor-stated: prices or claims published by a foundation repair company about its own work.
- Referral sites and marketplaces: for example, Angi and Homeowner Henry, which also connect homeowners with contractors.
- Content sites: other websites that publish cost or how-to guides.
Where a government, engineering or news source backs the same fact, we prefer it.
Prices are shown as published
We show price ranges exactly as each source publishes them, say whether they're for Houston or the whole country, and never blend sources into our own average.

FAQ
Where do your numbers come from?
Each number links to its source, with the date we checked it.
Do you make up estimates?
No. We show ranges as each source publishes them, and we leave out anything we can't source.
Why do you cite contractors and referral sites?
Some Houston prices are only published by contractors or other referral sites. When we use them, we label them as contractor-stated or as a referral site.
